LAMB Leaderboard updated for February!

24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog made a late surge and, for the 6th straight month, is the big LAMB on campus. Cut the Crap Movie Reviews came close, so close, to toppling the eternal Leaderboard leader, but to no avail.

Just four new/returning entrants to board, led by Detailed Criticisms, debuting in the #7 spot - impressive. Even better - a Leaderboard record (of sorts) has been demolished, as there’s just one lonely generic LAMB Banner over there. Thanks to all of you that have sent one in.

Speaking of LAMB Banners, I was blown away (and busy) with all of the newest ones - 12 in all! Hanging proudly in the Gallery are the banners for (take a deep breath) Big Thoughts From a Small Mind, Detailed Criticisms, Scott Brothers, Film-Book.com, Gore Gore Dancer Movie Reviews, Fandango Groovers Movie Blog, Dear Jesus, Ming Movie Reviews, CinemaObsessed.com, PreviewFilms.net, Silent Volume, and Skeins of Thought. They’ve also been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

The LAMB Devours the Oscars - Best Live Action Short Film

Editor’s note: Welcome to the seventeenth of a 33-part series dissecting the 82st Academy Awards, brought to you by the Large Association of Movie Blogs and its assorted members. Every day leading up to the Oscars, a new post written by a different LAMB will be published, each covering a different category of the Oscars. To read any other posts regarding this event, please click the tag following the post. Thank you, and enjoy!

By boylorne of 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!.

Luckily, we were chosen to cover a category that matches our attention span (if not our taste level) — Best Live Action Short Film.
The five nominees are:
  • Miracle Fish, Luke Doolan, director, and Drew Bailey, producer (Druid Films)
  • Instead of Abracadabra, Patrik Eklund, director, and Mathias Fjellstrom, producer (Direktorn & Fabrikorn)
  • Kavi, Gregg Helvey, director-producer (Gregg Helvey)
  • The Door, Juanita Wilson, director, and James Flynn, producer (Octagon Films Ltd.)
  • The New Tenants, Joachim Back, director, and Tivi Magnusson, producer (Park Pictures)

INSTEAD OF ABRACADABRA

dorky magic swede
chock full of indie styles!
but hipsters don’t vote

KAVI

kavi is a slave
this dirt poor kid won’t win it
slumdog’s so last year

THE DOOR

chernobyl fallout
the children are all so pale
fresh outta jokes, y’all

THE NEW TENANTS

last film - hope it’s good
hey, vincent d’onofrio!
let’s give him the win.

PICK TO WIN: The New Tenants

BONUS: SHORT TERM 12 (written before the nominations were announced):

then there’s short term 12.
sad kids, and sadder adults?
we have a winner.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for January!

For the 5th straight month, 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog is the big LAMB on campus. Huzzah! Also, if I’m not mistaken, today is the birthday of one of 24 Hours’ contributors (boylorne?), so double bonus! Happy Birthday!

Five new/returning entrants to board, led by Silent Volume, debuting (I believe) in the #6 spot - impressive. The downside is the large number of generic LAMB banners over there - six five in total (Andrew from Encore Entertainment just sent one). C’mon, folks - send me some banners. You know you want to represent your site better.

Speaking of LAMB Banners, there is some good news there, as I’ve added four more since last month - this time for The Movie Encyclopedia, Top10Films.co.uk, New Movie Buzz (soon to join the LAMB), Rach’s Media Opinions, and Encore Entertainment. If you’re one of those four, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly in the Gallery and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for December!

For the 4rd straight month, 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog is the big LAMB on campus. Will anyone ever unseat this unstoppable force? Like last month, the top five is largely unchanged, though The Dark of the Matinee made a triumphant return to the Leaderboard, charging all the way up to the third spot. TDOTM led a group of six (30%) new/returning entries to the ‘board - impressive! Even more impressive is the fact that there are but three generic LAMB banners up there - pretty sure that’s a new low. Thanks again to all of you that have sent one in.

Speaking of LAMB Banners, I’ve added two new ones to the Gallery - this time for Ross vs. Ross and Ciné Critique Américain. If you’re one of those two, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly in the Gallery and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for November!

Same story, different month. For the 3rd straight month, 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog is the big LAMB on campus. Incredible! In fact, the top five sites this month are the same top five from last month, the order has just changed slightly. That said, there is plenty of new blood on the Leaderboard (including two with fresh LAMB banners; see below), with five sites making the list that weren’t there last month.

In other LAMB Banner news, I’ve added three new ones to the Gallery - this time for Go, See, Talk!, Anomalous Material, and Chuck Norris Ate My Baby. If you’re one of those three, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly in the Gallery and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for October!

…and 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog is the big LAMB on campus yet again. 24 Hours somehow managed to improve on last month’s hits, with a whopping 258 in October. Congrats again.

In other LAMB Banner news, I’ve added three new ones to the Gallery - this time for Bearded Weirdo Reviews, The Robot Who Likes Pretty Things, and Goregirl’s Dungeon. If you’re one of those three, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly in the Gallery and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for September!

…and 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog has overtaken The Lightning Bug’s Lair…in a big, big way. As in, more than double the hits. Congrats on your earned spot atop the board, 24 Hours. Also, I’m glad to see that just 20% of the board is made up of sites with generic LAMB banners.

In other LAMB Banner news, I’ve added five new ones to the Gallery - this time for 10 Things I Hate About Your Movie, Cut the Crap Movie Reviews, Oxford Film Freak, the m0vie blog, and The Peoples Movie Blog. If you’re one of those five, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly in the Gallery and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

LAMB #342 - 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!

URL: http://24hourstomidnight.wordpress.com/
Site Name: 24 Hours to Midnight: The Blog!
Categories: Reviews, Editorials, Horror, Humor, Classic Film, General
Rating: PG-13 (Occasional language; any harsh videos are marked NSFW).

What is the main focus of your site?
Our favourite bad movies, reviewed in haiku. Other features include “Degrees” - Linking ourselves, Kevin Bacon style, to Uwe Boll; “Unwatchable” - Commenting on movies so bad even we couldn’t finish them; and “Tara Reid’s School for Real Smart Ladies” - spotlight on dumb girls playing smart ladies through the use of props (glasses, books, lab coats, etc.).

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
The #1 goal is posterity - we started blogging as a method of recording the movies we watched and loved, so we wouldn’t forget them. We also wanted to share other movies with each other. We also enjoy making each other laugh. So, once we started blogging, we realized that other people dig it, too.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
We like trading bad movie stories, anecdotes, and memories. Because we deal in popular and obscure stuff, we welcome suggestions.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Since February 1, 2009. With 145 entries as of today, I’d say we’re semi-daily, or at least close to it.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Pootie Tang.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Browsing Wordpress blogs, looking for bad movie sites.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
There’s four of us.
