For Your Consideration: 8th Circuit

Hey you! Send me an FYC image and I will put it up! I don’t care if I get one from 50 sites, I’ll find a way to get them all up, and as soon as possible (the nomination voting period only lasts until May 12th!). When you’re ready to vote, do it here: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/482056

FYC #16 is for LAMB #295, The 8th Circuit.

A message from Ryan Matsunaga of The 8th Circuit

Yesterday, one of our writers and founders (Brendan Kutler) passed away in his sleep at the age of 17. We have started a post where his friends and fans can leave their respects in the comments section. It has come to my attention that his family is watching the thread, and I know it would mean a lot to them to see how many people he has touched.

The post can be found here: http://8th-circuit.com/?q=content/rip-brendan-kutler.

The LAMB sends its best wishes out to Brendan’s family, friends and members of The 8th Circuit.

Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering #25: The 8th Circuit

It’s Blusterin’ Time!

And remember: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you’ve asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.

If you’re new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here’s the basics:

What I’ll do is list a site; you’re asked to critique it. But here’s the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don’t leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don’t be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I’ll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

Site: The 8th Circuit
LAMB#: 295
URL: http://8th-circuit.com/

If you’re up for this treatment for your site (and you’re a LAMB), send me an email with the subject “Bluster Me!” If you’ve already done so, no need to do it again - you’re on the list, and these will be going up in order of when I received your email (by the way, it could take a while for your site to be Blustered, since I don’t run this more than once a week or so).

Presenting: The Podcast Roundup

Last week, along with the Who Are LAMB? survey announcement (still going on, by the way - if you haven’t participated, please do via this link), I put a call out to any and all LAMBs that produce/partake in a podcast. The goal is twofold: 1) promote those sites/people that are doing a podcast and 2) compile a handy, one-stop list (to be published every other week, or every week if popular and full enough) for potential listeners. If nothing else, it was an entirely selfish thought: I’m interested in film/pop culture podcasts, and I’d rather start by listening to the opinions of my fellow LAMBs than just find a random podcast.

So, here’s your first roundup. I understand that it might get a bit confusing with all of the links, but I wanted to give one to the LAMB site that you’re familiar with, their podcast home (if different from their usual site, and a link to their latest podcast. If you are a podcaster, see below for instructions on what to send me in the future for best results (i.e. so I don’t get anything wrong).

LAMB: All Things Kocinski
Podcast name/host site link: Cine-Rama
Latest episode (and short description, if given): It’s all things pop culture related, but it’s mostly movie related (i.e. our last episode was about Twin Peaks the series).

LAMB: The Cynical Blog
Podcast name/host site link: The Film Cynics
Latest episode (and short description, if given): Interview with Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica and Ice Age 3

LAMB: Entertain Me
Podcast name/host site link: The Simon and Jo Show
Latest episode (and short description, if given): This week we discuss, more formally, Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox with Richard Bourne and Jo and Simon discuss the latest installment of Saw - Saw VI. Finally we discuss the crazy prices of cinemas across the country - from Telford to Birmingham, From Shrewsbury to London!

LAMB: Popcorn N Roses
Podcast name/host site link: Subject: CINEMA
Latest episode (and short description, if given): “Screen Screams: I Want My Mummy!”

LAMB: The 8th Circuit
Podcast name/host site link: Circuitcast
Latest episode (and short description, if given): This week it’s all about the money as we discuss Left 4 Dead 2, DLC, and microtransactions vs subscriptions.

LAMB: natsukashi
Podcast name/host site link:
Latest episode (and short description, if given): Nightbreed with Simon Bamford

That does it for the premier roundup. To get your podcast listed in the next roundup (whether you’re included above or not), please send me the following when you’ve published your next show:

* Your LAMB site name and link,
* The name of your podcast and it’s indexed home page, if different from above, and
* A link to your latest episode, along with a short description, if desired.

Send this info with the subject of “Podcast Roundup,” or simply click here.
