October 29th to 31st of 2010

< DAY THREE >

Happy Halloween to all the hardcore holiday fans out there! Today marks the third and final day of the Director’s Chair: Alfred Hitchcock edition. If you have not done so already it would be worthwhile to visit the first day and second day of the series in addition to the material for today. A large number of film reviews have been submitted for this series and I hope you have been able to read as many of them as you can possibly sift through. The reviews span across twenty-nine films that were released over the course of forty years. For the third and final day we will be looking at the last leg of film reviews that have been submitted. Some of these films are the most recognizable titles of Alfred Hitchcock’s career.

Upon conclusion I would like to offer a grateful amount of appreciation for those who have participated in the Director’s Chair series. The eleventh installment holds an impressive turnout of participation, which has proven to me to be interesting experience with coordinating the material into an organized event. I am looking forward to making the announcement of the candidate for the twelfth installment in the next couple of weeks. I hope you will be able to participate.

LAMBs in the Director’s Chair
Event #11 starring Alfred Hitchcock
October 29th to 31st of 2010

< DAY ONE >

It must be said at the very start of the proceedings for today that it has been posted quite a bit late in the day. My apologies for those who have been patiently waiting all day long to read the articles that will be linked in the first day of the Hitchcock themed event. The turnout for the current Director’s Chair event is tremendous, which has left me joyously surprised by the participation from everyone involved. Keep in mind that it is only the first day of a three day event, which means if you do not see a link for an article that you know has been submitted then you may need to keep an eye open in the next two days, because it will be posted. Without further ado I would like to distract you with a MacGuffin.

CAREER EDITORIALS
I would like to begin with a couple of editorials which view at various themes and elements of Hitchcock’s film career. Some of these articles are a single part in a series of essays written about Alfred Hitchcock and I am planning on posting the rest of the series of articles in the next two days.

Make sure to return tomorrow, because there will be another long list of film reviews in addition to a couple more editorials about the original Hitch.

Hey everyone it is D.J. Heinlein from the blog site Matte Havoc. The time has come to announce the eleventh candidate of the LAMBs in the Director’s Chair series. The event has been slated for the end of October, which I am hoping will be enough time to watch and review a movie or two or ten from Hitchcock’s film catalog. How irresistible is it to ignore the Master of Cinematic suspense for the month of October? For those of you who have never participated in this event before I would like to present to everyone the basic list of instructions and rules of the series.

The golden guideline would be that all participants must be a current member of the LAMBs or at least on the waiting list for approval to become a member.

Second guideline of the series would be for everyone write and publish an article about the person who has been selected for the event and the focus must stay within the arena of the person’s career as a movie director.

Third item on the list is an uncompromising rule of meeting the deadline for submission. Every article that you would like to submit for the event must be e-mailed to DJ Heinlein [ mattehavoc@gmail.com ] by 10 PM the night before the first day of the event. Make sure to include a direct link to every article that you would like to submit (there is no minimum or maximum number of articles that can be submitted). If you send an e-mail explaining how you have a plan to publish the article instead of sending an actual link to the article then the e-mail will be automatically deleted and permanently forgotten about forever. Talking about your grandiose plans of earning the Pulitzer Prize of film criticism is not the same thing as turning in your homework for the assignment.

If you have any questions about the event you can e-mail them to me and I will respond as quickly as possible. Listed below are a few promotional graphics that you can post on your blog site to help promote the event. Have fun and knock yourself out with your reviews and editorials.

Stump the LAMBs Movie Trivia Quiz: Jaws

Cover of "Jaws (30th Anniversary Edition)...Cover of Jaws (30th Anniversary Edition)

Three people guessed the answer to the last quiz. One even bested me by naming another movie that also qualifies. So, one up, one down: I lost but I learned something.

Here’s the question again:

Name the movie that featured Steven Spielberg’s real-life dog.

The answer:

The movie I had in mind was Jaws but it turns out that Close Encounters of the Third Kind also qualifies. Spielberg’s dog Elmer was Brody’s pet in Jaws and was also seen during the release of the humans from the mother ship in Close Encounters.

Here are the LAMBs who got it right:

Jess from Insight into Entertainment (Jess gets extra credit for pointing out that Elmer was also in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.)

Fearless Leader Dylan from Blog Cabins

General Disdain from The Critical Critics

Here’s the next question:

Name the horror film that features two characters who have the same names as characters from two different Alfred Hitchcock movies.

Please include the following information in your response:

1. The movie name
2. Your name
3. Your blog name
4. Your blog URL

Send your submission to Carla of Tricky Movie Trivia at info[@]trickymovietrivia.com by midnight EDT August 28, 2009.

Good luck!
