The winner of the 2009 LAMMY for Best Random LAMB Banner is…

Coming at you twice a day (after today, where there will just be one) until the winner of the Best Blog award is unveiled next Tuesday, it’s time for the 2009 LAMMY Awards gala!

As I mentioned in the intro on the poll, any votes cast by ineligible voters would be discarded (eligible voters were LAMBs #1-282). There were 13 such ineligible voters; while I appreciate the effort, rules are rules. As a result, the outcomes of some of the races have been altered. On the bright side, at least this might snap some mystery back into seeing who won and lost. Anyway, on to the awards!

Best Random LAMB Banner
This was tied for the most active category, with 56 votes, and was one of the closest races, resulting in a tie for first place and a tie for 3rd place.

3rd place (tie): Reel Whore and The Flesh Eating Blog (10 votes)

And the winners, with 13 votes are…

Anchorwoman in Peril! and Evil on Two Legs

LAMMY Banners will be emailed to the winners and runner-ups after all the awards have been presented (in this case, there will be no runner-up banner; just the two winners will get one). Congratulations!

The winner of the 2008 LAMMY for Best Blog Name is…

What’s in a name? Does it need to have “movie” or “film” in the title, all the better to be found on Google? Should it be funny? Does it do a good job of describing the writing that can be found at that URL? These must all be good questions, because it seems we all have quite a few different ideas about what makes a good name (34 sites received votes). This was the 2nd most active category, with 76 total votes spread to 34 sites by 32 voters. The winner took the trophy while receiving a vote from 25% of the voters, the 12th highest percentage of all the categories.

The envelope please…

2nd place (tie): Reel Whore (7 votes)

2nd place (tie): Movie Dearest (7 votes)

And the winner, with 8 votes is…

Anchorwoman in Peril!

Your winning LAMMY banner will be emailed to you after all the awards have been presented. Congratulations!

LAMB #61 - Anchorwoman In Peril!

URL: http://anchorwomaninperil.blogspot.com/

Site Name: Anchorwoman In Peril!

What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?
I grew up on woman-in-peril TV movies in which actresses like Lynda Carter were stalked by psychotic killers, so now I’m revisiting and reviewing as many as I can. Of course, with so many murder and mystery movies out there, I usually end up getting sidetracked… Recently I’ve become obsessed with obscure killer-shark movies!

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I stay up late and watch a lot of trashy films. It’s not the most productive hobby, so my blog is my way of having something to show for all my misspent hours - other than just the bags under my eyes.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
Umm, I definitely don’t see myself as a ‘teacher’ (unless they’ve started a new degree course in Roddy McDowall movies) but I don’t see Anchorwoman In Peril! developing a giant fan community either. If people leave the odd comment - or simply find out more about a long-forgotten film - then I’m happy.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Since September 2007, with updates about 2-3 times a week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Slumber Party Massacre II, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Orca: Killer Whale.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Via the awesome Final Girl.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
Describe the plot of your ideal TV movie: A beautiful but lonely TV reporter (Caroline Williams) is targeted by an obsessed fan whilst filming a piece about mysterious - and deadly - shark attacks in New York Harbor. Can her new lover, an MIT sharkology professor (William Ragsdale), protect her or does he have secrets of his own? By the end of one terrifying night, one of them will be safe - but the other will be shark bait!
