PLUG: The 2011 Total Film Movie Blog Awards

Our good friends over at Total Film want to award the best of the film blogging community, and it’s no surprise that their list of nominees includes a good number of LAMBs. Show your support and go vote. Details and ballots can be found here: http://www.totalfilm.com/features/the-2011-total-film-movie-blog-awards.

You are cordially invited to attend the 2010 LAMMY Awards

Judge your peers! Brag about your standing within the LAMB community! If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can recognize its own every year, so can the LAMB. That’s right - it’s time for the 3rd Annual LAMMY Awards! If you’re amongst the many LAMBs that was not yet a member for last year’s awards, be sure to click here for a recap of last year’s events.

The rules:
As with last year’s awards, the voting will be done via a traditional nomination/vote process. The nomination process will last for three weeks, until May 12th. There are the same number of categories as last year (15), though many of the awards themselves have been changed (see full summaries below).

Voting and eligibility is open to current LAMBs only (#1 - 516). One ballot per site; if your site has multiple contributors, you need to consolidate and submit as one ballot. I currently have about 35 more profiles in the hopper, and I would love to have them all be eligible, but it may up to a month before they’re all posted, and I think it’s unfair to include them for this year’s contest. For a list of all eligible LAMBs, in order with their LAMB number, this spreadsheet is available for you to view/save (you’ll likely need it).

Click on the link at the bottom of this post and nominate up to three LAMBs for each award (no ranking necessary), save for Best Blog, where you may nominate up to five sites. There are two sites that you are not allowed to vote for: your own site and the LAMB- votes for either will be discarded. Shortly after the nomination period has closed, I will post a list of the nominees. The final round of voting will then take place for another two week period.

Prizes:

  • Winners and Runner Ups of each category will be eligible to place a banner like one of the excellent banners below on their sites (the “4″ will be exchanged for the appropriate number), created by the LAMMYS “sponsor” RIPE Creative – aka Mrs. Fletch’s company. (Banners and code will be emailed to the winners). Additionally, all nominees will receive a banner as well, noting how many noms they got.
  • In addition, the sites chosen as Best Blog and Best Blog Runner Up will be eligible for special banners for placement on their site.

Final Thoughts
Though it may take awhile depending on your familiarity, please take the time to visit as many of the LAMBs as you can to give a fair and accurate judging. Use the handy LAMB scroll box to visit them all, use a feed reader, or, again, use this spreadsheet to help you out.

On the poll, I’ll have a question or two about feedback and any suggestions for the 2011 LAMMYS. Please give your thoughts - what’s missing, different and/or better categories, the voting/nomination process, prizes, etc.

Most important - have fun and good luck to you all!

Thanks go out again to our sponsor, RIPE Creative, who created all the countdown pics, banners, etc… for this event.

You are cordially invited to attend the 2009 LAMMY Awards

Can you feel the excitement? One year and over 200 additional LAMBs later, it’s time for the 2nd Annual LAMMYs. If you’re amongst the majority of LAMBs that was not yet a member for last year’s awards, be sure to click here for a recap of last year’s events. It’s a pretty self-explanatory event, and can be summed up in a nutshell like so:

Judge your peers! Brag about your standing within the LAMB community! Win fabulous prizes! If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can recognize its own every year, so can the LAMB.

As discussed in the final award post from last year, there are a few changes to this year’s awards. While we had but 78 eligible LAMBs last year, we have 282 (see below) eligible sites this year. As such, I can’t reasonably expect anyone to be even remotely familiar with all of them, much less to go and inspect them for the purpose of an awards ceremony. So, gone is the “vote and tally” method from last year; it is replaced by a traditional nomination/vote process. Also, I’ve excised three awards and added four new ones, so there are 15 this year. Here are the details:

The rules:
Voting and eligibility is open to LAMBs only (#1 - 282). As of this second, I have posted profiles only up through LAMB #273; however, I have in the hopper profiles for 9 additional LAMBs, and I feel it’s only right that they be eligible to participate as well. Those 9 should know who they are; for those that don’t, their names are included in the LAMB Scroll Box, which serves as the list of all eligible sites.

Click on the link below and nominate up to three LAMBs for each award (no need to rank), save for Best Blog, where you may nominate up to five sites. You are not permitted to vote for your own site, as allowing it would likely negate the effect. The nomination period will last for two weeks (until May 4th). Shortly thereafter, I will post a list of the nominees - five for each award. Another round of voting will take place for another two week period.

Prizes:

  • Winners and Runner Ups (new - considering the number of sites, a 2nd place finish deserves a banner, too) of each category will be eligible to place one of the excellent banners below on their sites (the “4″ will be exchanged for the appropriate number), created by the LAMMYS “sponsor” RIPE Creative – aka Mrs. Fletch’s company. (Banners and code will be emailed to the winners).
  • In addition, the sites chosen as Best Blog and Best Blog Runner Up will be eligible for special banners for placement on their site.
  • As a bonus prize, the Best Blog winner will get this t-shirt sent to them, sent to me as part of a PR package by Sinuate Media as part of their Blog Smog promotional pack.

It’s time for the 2008 LAMMYS!

Judge your peers! Brag about your standing within the LAMB community! Win fabulous prizes! If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can recognize its own every year, so can the LAMB.

Here we are nearly six months and more than 75 LAMBs into this little project, and it appears to be a hit. Mrs. Fletch and I were discussing potential future LAMB events one day (as we do quite a bit) and she came up with the idea of an awards show for the LAMBs. I loved it immediately, and was ready to put the plan in motion that night, but didn’t want to step on the Sirens’ toes. As a result, I’ve been teasing you for three weeks. Here are the details:

The rules:
Voting and eligibility is open to current LAMBs only (#1 - 78). Click on the link below and vote for up to three (3) LAMBs for each award (no need to rank). You are not permitted to vote for your own site, as allowing it would likely negate the effect. I understand that this is a large number of sites to visit and judge, so the “awards ceremony” is scheduled for two weeks from now - Monday, May 5th. At that time, the accounting firm of Dylan, Fletch and Scooter (the pug) will review the results and determine winners of the 14 awards, along with a runner-up for the Best Blog award.

Prizes:

  • Winners of each category will be eligible to place one of the excellent banners below on their sites (the “4″ will be exchanged for the appropriate number), created by the LAMMYS “sponsor” RIPE Creative – aka Mrs. Fletch’s company. (Banners and code will be emailed to the winners).
  • In addition, the sites chosen as Best Blog and Best Blog Runner Up will be eligible for special banners for placement on their site.
  • As a bonus prize, the Best Blog winner will get their choice of the following DVDs (used but in perfect condition) from my library (Fargo, Logan’s Run, Stitch: The Movie, Reefer Madness, or Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj). Hey - it’s a bonus!
