In Memoriam - 2011

I’ll begin announcing the 2011 LAMMY Winners tomorrow, but first as part of the LAMMY ceremonies, it’s only fitting that we take a moment to celebrate the LAMBs that have fallen over the years. Dead LAMBs are sites that a.) no longer have a functioning URL b.) have not posted in over a year or c.) the last post was an official so-long-and-thanks-for-all-the-fish sign off.

Feel free to share your stories of these sites, fond memories, or funny anecdotes in the comments section. If your site is listed, and you know it’s not dead, please email me asap. Accidents do happen.

REMINDER: Vote in the 2011 LAMMYs; Also, I Need a Favor

So the 2011 LAMMY Nomination Poll has been up for a week and a half and I want to thank the 38 LAMBs who’ve cast their ballots so far. However, there is still a week and a half to go and we’re not yet at half the voters we had for the 2010 LAMMYs. So the rest of you eligible LAMBs (#1-900) please go vote:

If you don’t know where to start out of 900 blogs, here’s some advice:

1. Scroll back through all the fantastic For Your Consideration Banners that have ruled the site for the past week. Thanks to all 69 of you who have taken the time to make them and send them in, so far. It’s not too late to send one if you haven’t yet.

2. Check out the completely updated Sortable Table (very handy for Best Classic and Sci-Fi/Horror Blog Awards) and Scrollbox available. By updated, I mean dead and inactive LAMBs have been put to pasture, and all the new LAMBs have been added.

Speaking of the Table and Scrollbox, I need a favor from every LAMB reading this: please find your site on both and verify that everything is in working order (i.e. your site’s name is spelled correctly and reflects the current site name, your url works and links to your site, your site is listed and wasn’t accidentally considered “dead”, etc.). If you cannot find your site or need changes made, please comment below or email me. I don’t know if you don’t tell me.

In Memoriam: Dead LAMBs

As part of this year’s LAMMY ceremonies, I thought it only fitting that we take a moment to celebrate the LAMBs that have fallen over the years. Ideally, I’d only include those LAMBs that have “died” since last year’s LAMMYs, but a) I haven’t done one of these in the past, so why not celebrate them all and b) I don’t exactly know when all of these died. Next year, I’ll have to this to go off of, so I’ll know who has died since then.

It’s a sad thing to think about, but every now and then, a LAMB dies.

Of course, I’m referring to a site being shut down - not an actual person or lamb leaving us. With the help of the LAMB’s art director (Mrs. Fletch) and the notices of a few new fallen homies from soon-to-be LAMB Jose (http://worldsbestfilms.blogspot.com/), I’ve updated the profile pages for our dead LAMBs with the following image.
