Trailer Talk Thursday: Who writes your dialogue…Superman??
Hello I am Travis McCollum of the Movie Encyclopedia and welcome to another edition of Trailer Talk Thursday where I bring you the latest and greatest previews to hit the silver screen…
Well that didn’t sit to well with most studios back then so he couldn’t really sell his film. Stebbings then went on to write and direct other movies but all the while still wanting to go back to his original masterpiece. Thanks to Telefilm Canada, his own personal finances and back alley deals he was able to finally shoot his picture in early 2009. It debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and was picked up Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisition Group. Sony made sure to distribute the film all over the world and did…with one exception: The US. Well Darius Films (the producers) weren’t going to let that happen so they got the rights to distribute it in the US and now it’s scheduled for a late February release here.
So without further ado here is the trailer:
So what are my initial thoughts? Well a lot of people are probably going to compare this to Kick-Ass.. The over the top violence, deranged heroes and colorful costume are probably gonna cause people to compare. I think that’s not right. I think considering that the Kick Ass comic was created three years after the original screenplay for Defendor was made and that there are a lot of other non super power superhero movies (Punisher, Mystery Men) that this should stand on its own.
