LAMBcast #45: Paranormal Activity 2

Nick (host), Jason and newcomer Simon of Screen Insight (and co-host of the LAMMY-nominated podcast The Simon and Jo Film Show) get all kinds of controversial while discussing Paranormal Activity 2.

Also on tap:

* Listener Feedback
* LAMB of the Week
* Trailer Talk: Scream 4
* Remember the Time

For the LAMB of the Week, we take a look at LAMB #196, Film Forager:

If you’d like your site to be a future LAMB of the Week, hit me up via email and I’ll add you to the queue.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to blogcabins@yahoo.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

LAMB Leaderboard updated for August!

Film Forager makes its return to the top of the Leaderboard - congrats!

A whopping six new/returning entrants to board, so there’s a lot of shaking up going on. Leading the way this month is The Most Beautiful Fraud in the World, charting at #5. The same bad news as last month, though, as 30% of the board is inhabited by generic LAMB banners. The goal is a generic banner-free board. One day…

Speaking of LAMB Banners, six new ones added to the Gallery/random banner widget - awesome! The new ones hanging proudly are for: Less Then Three Film, Cine-Vue, Dorkosphere, Blah! - Movie Edition, A Nerd Like Me, and A Shroud of Thoughts.

Want yours in there? Just send it to me. More details on that here.

For Your Consideration: Ross v Ross, The Lightning Bug’s Lair, Film Forager, and Radiator Heaven

Hey you! Send me an FYC image and I will put it up! I don’t care if I get one from 50 sites, I’ll find a way to get them all up, and as soon as possible (the nomination voting period only lasts until May 12th!). When you’re ready to vote, do it here: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/482056

FYC #26 is for LAMB #405, Ross v Ross.

FYC #27 is for LAMB #181, The Lightning Bug’s Lair.

FYC #28 is for LAMB #196, Film Forager.

FYC #29 is for LAMB #83, Radiator Heaven.

LAMBcast #5

The LAMBcast is back in its full form, and back with a full slate of five hosts. The featured discussion this time out is none other than the supposed “last great movie star,” Mr. George Clooney, who (in case you’ve been living under a rock in a cave) might have three films out at your local theater next month when Up in the Air opens, joining The Men Who Stare at Goats and his vocal contribution to The Fantastic Mr. Fox. We dissect his career, from The Facts of Life to Batman & Robin and everything in between. Also on tap: some Trailer Talk and a game of Last Man Person Standing.

In it, I was joined by fellow LAMBs:

* Tom Clift of Plus Trailers
* Nick Jobe of Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob,
* Mike Mendez of Big Mike’s Movie Blog, and
* Alex Kittle of Film Forager.

Trailers discussed:

I hope you’ll join us, either as a listener or, if you’re interested, as a fellow podcaster. For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums.

As usual, the music, as provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website, is the bomb. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service.

You can listen by playing it in the widget in the left sidebar; if you’d like to add it to your site (you would), click the “Add to my page” link. Also, you can find us on iTunes; just go to the Podcasts section and search for “LAMBcast.”

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, we’d love to hear them.

Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering #12: Film Forager

It’s Blusterin’ Time!

And remembering: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you’ve asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.

If you’re new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here’s the basics:

What I’ll do is list a site; you’re asked to critique it. But here’s the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don’t leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don’t be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I’ll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

Site: Film Forager
LAMB#: 196
URL: “http://filmforager.blogspot.com/

If you’re up for this treatment for your site (and you’re a LAMB), send me an email with the subject “Bluster Me!” If you’ve already done so, no need to do it again - you’re on the list, and these will be going up in order of when I received your email.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for May!

…and we have a new B.L.O.C. (Big LAMB on Campus). Technically, Final Girl is atop the Leaderboard, but as she has no Random LAMB Banner, Film Forager currently has their banner displayed in the B.L.O.C. spot just below the site header. Should Final Girl send me a banner, she will take the throne.

In other LAMB Banner news, I’ve added five more to the gallery again - if you were one of the five, your banners now ‘hang’ proudly there and have been inserted into the Random LAMB Banner box.

Want yours in there? Just send it to me.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for December!

Congrats to LAMB #196, Film Forager - the new Big LAMB on Campus (B.L.O.C.)!

LAMB #196 - Film Forager

URL: http://filmforager.blogspot.com/
Site Name: Film Forager
Categories: Reviews
Rating: PG-13

What is the main focus of your site?
It’s mostly just me documenting the unhealthy amount of movies I watch, sharing my opinions on them as well as any trivia, music, pictures, videos, or relevant further reading I find.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Writing about every movie I see helps me keep track of what I’m watching and it makes me feel productive. I hope to help other people find great movies or avoid bad ones, spark dialogue, and gain recommendations in return.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I’d like it to be interactive.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I started in August 2008, and I generally update about 3 times a week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Singin’ in the Rain, Brazil, Grindhouse.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
I think it was linked to in another movie blog I read. I forget which one though.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
What’s at the top of your Netflix queue right now?

Well I have Svankmajer’s Alice (Neco z Alenky) and the first ever animated film, The Adventures of Prince Achmed at home, with Tommy and Diggers coming up next. Exciting!
