Brutally Blunt Blog Blusterings #53: In It for the Kills

It’s Blusterin’ Time!

If you’re new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here are the basics:

What I do is list a site; you critique it. But here’s the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don’t leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don’t be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I’ll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

And remember: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you’ve asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.

LAMB #977 - In It For The Kills: Horror Perspectives

URL: http://initforthekills.wordpress.com/
Site Name: In It For The Kills: Horror Perspectives
Categories: Horror
Rating: R

What is the main focus of your site?
I cover mostly supernatural horror with an emphasis on indie, cult and foreign as well as straight to video crapola. At In It For The Kills you will find rants, gushing, satire, perversions of critical film analysis, bad jokes, an endless search for a greater purpose for the horror genre and desperate attempts to find symbolism. I hate to write, but I love to read my own work.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My extremely self-indulgent site is my love letter to the horror genre. I like to satirically refer to it as the world’s worst horror blog. I usually feature only films I like. Also, by sticking to the specific topic of horror films I’ve managed to mostly win the war against writer’s block for the last two years and to delude myself into thinking I’m actually using the English degree I worked so hard and ill-advisedly to obtain. Of course, I’m always in pursuit of higher expectations.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I would love to have a more interactive community. I have a small readership, but most of those people have become faithful correspondents on my personal Facebook page. I’m afraid that in the age of internet snark people may be afraid to comment on the site itself; they shouldn’t be. I’d like to see more discussion happening in the blog’s comments section.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
I have been active since March 09. Except for a few unfortunate breaks I have posted 3-4 times a week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The Whip and the Body, City of the Living Dead, The Dark Power

How did you hear about the LAMB?
I found a link on The Uranium Cafe.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
I’m hosting a Carnival of Blood blogathon June 21, 2011 during which I will link to any content pertaining to dark carnival or fun park imagery in a film. This is my first blogathon. If it goes well I want to do a similar one around dark beach imagery in September for Labor Day.  I’d also like to add that this looks like a wonderful and very constructive community and I look forward to being a part of it.
