PLUG: Japan Cinema

Japan Cinema has just released an article to address some common pitfalls of movie blogging. This guide is not sugar coated! In short, it is advice given in hard to swallow doses.

Nothing against new movie blogs. I remember what it was like starting off. Getting low traffic and struggle to find an audience. It’s just that there seems to be so many movie blogs doing the same thing nowadays. You don’t want to be one of them do you? This article is for new and established movie bloggers alike.

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don’t get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) - I’ll handle the rest.

For the LAMB of the Week, we take a look at Japan Cinema:

If you’d like your site to be a future LAMB of the Week, hit me up via email and I’ll add you to the queue.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to blogcabins@yahoo.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering #7: Japan CInema

It’s Blusterin’ Time again!

If you’re new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here’s the basics:

What I’ll do is list a site; you’re asked to critique it. But here’s the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don’t leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don’t be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I’ll have no problem deleting the comment.

So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.

Site: Japan Cinema
LAMB#: 311
URL: http://japancinema.net/

If you’re up for this treatment for your site (and you’re a LAMB), send me an email with the subject “Bluster Me!” If you’ve already done so, no need to do it again - you’re on the list, and these will be going up in order of when I received your email.

LAMB #311 - Japan Cinema

URL: http://japancinema.net/
Site Name: Japan Cinema
Categories: Reviews
Rating: R

What is the main focus of your site?
The main focus of the site is to review movies first and foremost. The twist is I only review movies worth watching on a alphabet scale from A-D, never any F’s (because bad films aren’t good films of course). The second twist is I only review films that are influenced by Asian culture. This ranges from Mulan to Ichi the Killer. Films from Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, etc. are all included.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I am just sharing my passion for films. I love graphic design, films and writing, so my blog is a hybrid of all three elements. I write articles, yet feature custom banners for each flick, and review movies I enjoy.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
Teacher. My mission is to turn people on to other movies that they often would dismiss, or never have the opportunity to come across otherwise.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Going on 4 months, and this is one of those blogs that will continue and continue on for years. Updates go up every weekday morning usually before 9/8 c

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Oldboy
American History X
The Fall

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Not answered.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
