Hey everyone it is D.J. Heinlein from the blog site Matte Havoc. Welcome to the third and final day of the tenth installment of the Director’s Chair series. The last couple of days have flown by pretty quickly and I hope you have taken an opportunity to read the articles that were linked in the previous two days of the event. Today we will be covering a few more film reviews from the directorial filmography of Sofia Coppola. She appears to be a hot number these days and she is currently working on releasing her latest film Somewhere (expected theatrical release in December, 2010). First things first, I would like to offer a link to a review for an early Coppola work called Lick the Star (1998) before moving on to one of highest critically acclaimed films on her resume. Enjoy!

They are listed below in two separate and organized sections for your convenience. You might even observe a connection between the films beyond the obvious fact that both films are directed by Coppola. Hey everyone it is D.J. Heinlein from the blog site Matte Havoc. Recently the announcement of the tenth candidate for the LAMBs in the Director’s Chair series was published here on the LAMBs site. The event will begin in seven days and it’s not too late for the LAMB members to submit their articles and reviews for the event. Yes, we have two co-stars for this current event and I hope that it will not diminish our experience of watching their films or reading articles about their career. Both of them have a small number of feature film titles to their credit, but the list of movies sure packs a powerful punch in quality filmmaking. For a direct reference, here is the entire list of their directorial credits.

Kimberly Pierce
Boys Don’t Cry (1999)
Stop-Loss (2008)

Sofia Coppola

Hey everyone it is D.J. Heinlein from the blog site Matte Havoc. The time has come to announce the tenth candidate of the LAMBs in the Director’s Chair series. The event will start in about three and a half weeks, which I am hoping will be enough time to watch and review a movie or two from their combined catalog.

The Virgin Suicides (1999)
Lost in Translation (2003)
Marie Antoinette (2006)

A total of five movies between the two of them may be a bit surprising, but these five films have won 123 awards including three Oscars plus four additional Oscar nominations. I think these two women know a little something about producing an award worthy film. What do you think?
