Last-minute FYC: Out of the Past

Hey you! Send me an FYC image and I will put it up! I don’t care if I get one from 50 60 sites, I’ll find a way to get them all up, and as soon as possible (the nomination voting period only lasts until May 12th!). When you’re ready to vote, do it here: http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/482056

FYC #61 is for LAMB #113, Out of the Past.

PLUG: Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog

This is Raquelle from Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog (http://outofthepastcfb.blogspot.com/). I had originally intended to provide my readers with a Robert Mitchum week but felt it restricted my creativity in trying to cram everything into just 7 days. So now I bring you A Veritable Robert Mitchum Explosion. All Robert Mitchum. All the time. No structure, no form. It’s Robert Mitchum willy-nilly. Pictures, videos, articles, movie reviews, book reviews and all sorts of other goodies. How long will it last? Who knows? Who cares? Make sure you drop by to check out the madness.

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, well don’t get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details - I’ll handle the rest.

PLUG: Out of the Past

June is Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog’s second annual Guest Blogger Month. To add some variety to the blog, I would love to have other bloggers and classic film fans submit posts for consideration. I only have a few rules:

1) That the post be classic film related (1920s to 1960s)
2) That it not be too long
3) That it have a personal perspective or personal twist
4) That you include at least one image or allow me to add one

So why write a guest post? Because it would be fun and I would be your bestest friend forever and ever!

Submit your guest posts to QuelleLove at Gmail dot com.

I’m looking forward to the entries!

PLUG: Out of the Past

For the month of May, Turner Classic Movies is showcasing Latinos in their Latino Images in Film festival. On my blog, Out of the Past, I will be writing about 6 of the films featured and will be posting about each film the day before it’s aired. All of the films I’m writing about are also available on DVD. I’m also planning to have a giveaway and will include some fun posts as well.

Plugs 4/1

Got a Plug? Head on over to the LAMB Forums and post it. I’m looking for special events - contests, giveaways, blog-a-thons - something you don’t normally do, but you’re doing it now and want need the world to know. Here’s the latest batch:

From FILM FOR THE SOUL:
Film for the Soul needs ewe to chronicle a decade of film.

In 8 months plus it will be 2010 and the 00’s (the naughties) will be behind us leaving in its wake 10 years of cinema.

I want to take a look at cinema from 2000 - 2009, each month focusing on a different year, obviously starting with the year 2000 and I’m looking for submissions; reviews, opinions, awards, news, anything and everything film related for each corresponding year.

I believe that not only are we looking at 10 years of cinema but also the rise of the ‘casual critic’, the blogsphere has given voice to thousands of on-line reviewers and I’m looking for as many of those differing voices as possible.

So if ewe have a review; one ewe may have already posted on your blog many years ago, or are interested in writing a new one for a film in 2000 then please get in contact. For example I’m especially interested in any review, or articles, on the following films

Gladiator (Ridley Scott)
O’ Brother Where Art Thou (Joel/Ethan Coen)
House of Mirth (Terrence Davies)
Dancer in the Dark (Lars Von Trier)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Ang Lee)
Requiem for a Dream (Darren Aronosky)
Ju-on (Takashi Shimizu)
Amores Perros (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarrittu)
Almost Famous (Cameron Crowe)
Yi Yi: A One and a Two (Edward Yang)
X-Men (Bryan Singer)
Billy Elliot (Stephen Daldry)
Traffic (Steven Soderbergh)
Girlfight (Karyn Kusama)
Nine Queens (Fabian Bielinsky)
Best in Show (Christopher Guest)

These are just ideas, if ewe have a hidden gem, for example one reviewer is covering a Japanese Anime I’ve never heard of, then don’t hesitate to get in contact.

Over the coming months I hope to build a resource of film in the 00’s, culminating with an ultimate list of the naughties greatest films at the end of the year.

Hopefully you’ll take part.

From OUT OF THE PAST:
Hey there fellow LAMBs. I’ve declared next week (3/29 to 4/4) Norma Shearer week on my blog Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog. TCM is showing a lot of her films in the next upcoming months and with the new WB Archive films, 4 of her films are now available on made-to-order DVDs.

Just want to get people interested in my absolute top favorite Actress!

From INVASION OF THE B MOVIES:
This is for an upcoming blogathon of sorts that I did last year.

I declared April “30 Days of Horror” where every day in April I watched at least one horror movie. Towards the end, things didn’t go so well cause of family stuff, so hopefully this year things will go off without a hitch.

This time though, I’m asking for help. I’m writing out all the films I wanna see in that month but if anyone is willing to contribute by watching and writing a horror film on your own and I’ll do a linky thing. How I’ll do that is if ewe wanna participate, let me know what film ewe want to cover and I’ll let ewe know if I did it already or if I’m gonna do it.

Here’s the link to last years films: http://www.invasionofthebmovies.com/30dayshorror.html

I have sort of a theme going on this time, since this is the “sequel” to the first event. Betcha never guess what the theme might be.

From NOIRISH CITY:
Hi LAMB Members,

For those of ewe who(m) are interested….
My blog is “undergoing” a “format” change.
Starting April 1st….No! This Isn’t An April Fools Joke!

Oh!…She is going to write her own movie reviews? No!….I still don’t like to write, …. but what about the contests?….

*No worries,* movie contest(s) will still be offered on my blog.
And where are all these changes taking place?

….at http://noirishcity.blogspot.com/

Thanks,
Deedee (dcd)

Got a plug of your own? An upcoming blog-a-thon, contest, or other event? Email me or post the details at the LAMB Forum (there’s a thread in the General LAMB Stuff section).

LAMB #113 - Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog

URL: http://outofthepastcfb.blogspot.com/

Site Name: Out of the Past ~ A Classic Film Blog

What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?
A personal perspective on classic films. Specifically those films from the 1920s to the 1960s. I explore a wide-range of unique topics including sexuality on film, pre-codes (early ’30s) and code breakers (late ’50s/early ’60s), film noir, ’60s sex comedies, Bette Davis’ blonde films, Norma Shearer’s career, influence of classic film on current culture, classic film in contemporary books, the lives of actors and actresses, and my personal experience and reactions to certain movies.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
I am trying to develop a more social interaction with other film bloggers as well as classic film fans on the net. I also want to show people that classic films are not outdated, instead so many of them are timeless and still are able to speak to audiences today. And one of my biggest goals is to show people that many classic films were scandalous and racy and not as bland as most people think they are.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I prefer interactive. I speak directly to an audience and love it when they speak back.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
More than a year. I’ve been trying to post 2-3 times a week and have recently started opening up my blog to guest bloggers.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Pillow Talk, Rear Window, Good News.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
From a fellow blogger Ibetolis, of Film for the Soul.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
None.
