LAMBcast #36

For the 36th episode of the LAMBcast, we take on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and break it down at least seven different ways. What worked, what didn’t, favorite fights, lines, and general gushing from Nick, who has named it his new favorite movie ever…at least until Machete comes out (kidding, Nick). Joining him were Tom, James, and me. That’s followed up by the usual Trailer Talk (Black Swan, I’m Still Here) and Last LAMB Standing, but also by the latest segment on the LAMBcast, the LAMB of the Week, which is more or less an audio, non-anonymous version of Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering.

For the inaugural edition, Heather of Movie Mobsters put her site’s neck on the line, and we tore it to shreds gave it our best mix of compliments and constructive criticism.
If you’d like your site to be a future LAMB of the Week, hit me up via email and I’ll add you to the queue.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to blogcabins@yahoo.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

LAMBcast #32

You want over-analysis? You got it, friend. Nick, Tom, Rachel, Sebastian and myself gathered to take the trip down the rabbit hole that is Inception, engaging in a discussion full of spoilers (FULL OF SPOILERS) about Chris Nolan’s latest mind-bender. We talk theories, strengths, weaknesses, and just where the most-discussed film of 2010 ranks amongst the Dark Knight director’s best works? Detractors, prepared to be annoyed.

Despite the lengthy discussion, we still squeezed in some time for a pair of LLS games and some Trailer Talk about The Town and Faster.

LAMBcast #30

Part 2 of 2. Host Tom Clift leads a round table discussion on Pixar: thoughts on the company’s place in Hollywood, a look at what’s next for them, and a rundown of each of their 11 feature films, culminating with an extended review of their latest critical and commercial hit, Toy Story 3.

In fact, the proceedings, which also included Sebastian Gutierrez, Dylan Fields, and LAMBcast first-timer Jess Rogers, was such an epic that we had to bust it into two episodes, which also means no LLS or Trailer Talk this time out, but I think we more than made up for it.

LAMBcast #21

Host Nick Jobe and Tom Clift tried their best not to spoil Iron Man 2 for the Mad Hatter, who had yet to see the actioner. I’d say more, but I haven’t yet had a chance to listen to the episode myself. I do know, however, that that discussion was followed up with three games of Last LAMB Standing (in which Nick embarrassed himself yet again) and a little Trailer Talk.

LAMBcast #20

“Do you have a MILF?”

Just in time for Mother’s Day (or Mum’s Day), the LAMBcasters (hey you, become one - see below) set out to talk out some of our favorite movie moms - the good, the bad, and the ugly (and yes, the MILFs).

We had a full house of participants, too. On board were Rachel Thuro, Travis McCollum, Nick Jobe, Tom Clift, and me as your humble host. The feature discussion was followed up with a couple games of Last LAMB Standing and a lively Trailer Talk.

LAMBcast #15

While not the longest podcasting session, host Jason Soto presided over what turned out to be the longest single episode of the LAMBcast (the other one was so long it was split into two), and all because of a fat guy named Kevin. Jason was joined by Nick, Tom, This Guy, and Tom’s countryman (and future LAMB, I’m told) Brett as they dissect the works and wisdom of the Clerks auteur. Stay tuned after the credits once more for some more bonus material, this time in the guise of the infamous “Lost” Last Man Standing game.

LAMBcast #14

Did you see The Crazies? If not, have no fear, as 2/5 of the participants in this episode hadn’t seen it, either. The focus quickly turned away from Nick’s strange theatrical experience seeing the George Romero remake and onto a discussion of remakes, reboots, reimaginings, prequels, sequels, and what the hell the difference is between all those things. Of course, very few conclusions were drawn. This was all topped off by two, dare I say, competitive games of Last LAMB Standing, and a remake of previous Trailer Talk discussions (frequent listeners will know what I mean).

On hand in all this craziness was Nick Jobe of Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob, Travis McCollum of The Movie Encyclopedia, Tom Clift of Plus Trailers, Jason Soto of Invasion of the B Movies, and myself.
