LAMBcast #87

Yes, I’m still behind, and I apologize. This episode is posted a few days late and I’ve got to get the next one up in time for Saturday’s MOTM. The pressure! ;)

Anyway, episode 87 was one of our increasingly rare “one-off” episodes where host Nick talked to Courtney, Alan, and Fredo about films that they love that are pretty much unloved or unseen by the rest of the world. So you might call them guilty pleasures, but that moniker might not fit them all so well.

Per the request of the show participants, the films mentioned were:

* The Black Cauldron
* Zero Effect
* Hanna
* I’m a Cyborg But That’s OK
* Hocus Pocus
* 5 x 2
* Millions
* Surf Ninjas
* American Pie
* Marked for Death
* Pirate Radio
* EuroTrip

Also on tap:

* Rants of the Week
* Raves of the Week
* Last LAMB Standing

Note: I’m still having an issue with the Podomatic embeddable player; will update and include as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to dylan@manilovefilms.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

LAMBcast #83: David Cronenberg

In honor of the recent Director’s Chair blog-a-thon celebrating his catalog, the latest LAMBcast takes a look at the work of David Cronenberg, film by film. First-time host James walked Joel, Dan Heaton and first-time LAMBcaster Alan through the eccentric Canadian’s film, and it might surprise you to learn which is the group’s collective favorite. (I’d say “be gentle” to James, but he did a pretty great job his first time out.)

Also on tap:

* Rants of the Week
* Raves of the Week
* Last LAMB Standing

PLUG: The Great Movie Project

World in Film Blogathon

A list of seven movies: one that is filmed, set, or produced in each continent. So, the list should include one film each from Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America. Include a sentence or two explaining why it was picked (and “it was the only one I could find” sums up MY pick for Antarctica pretty nicely). Selections can be any language, genre, or theme.

Submissions can be made in comment form (with link) to http://greatmovieproject.blogspot.com/p/blog-thon.html or by email (with link) to greatmovieproject@gmail.com from September 9 to September 12.

Thanks,
Alan

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don’t get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) - I’ll handle the rest.

LAMB #931 - The Great Movie Project

URL: greatmovieproject.blogspot.com
Site Name: The Great Movie Project
Categories: Reviews
Rating: PG-13

What is the main focus of your site?
My friends have been asking me what I’m watching for years. This is just a way for them to get that information on their own. Occasionally, this works as a means of self-discovery, but mostly it’s just fun.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
For 2011, my goal is one movie a day (watched and reviewed) for the entire year. After that, I’ll post as I see new movies.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I would love more interaction with my readers. I get the occasional recommendation, but I’ve been forced to use the Blogger Stats tab to figure out what kinds of movies are of interest and what kinds aren’t.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
It’s been active for 111 days as of today, but this is a second-gen blog for me. My prior blogs on the same topic have been around for a few years.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The King’s Speech, The Goonies, and 300

How did you hear about the LAMB?
I noticed the link on a blog I read: 1001: A Film Oddysey

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
