And now we’re going to tell the world what we really thought of film in 2010. It’s time for our 4th Annual LIONs for LAMBs Awards. I want to know what your best and worst films of the year were, plus some fun extras, like actor, actress, director, poster and loads more. Out of twelve categories, there is only one change from last year’s awards.

The poll is now up and all LAMBs will be able to vote through February 10th. The results will begin on February 16th, with one category posted every day, and end with the Top 10 on February 27th, the day of the 87th Academy Awards.

(Editor’s Note: In case you weren’t here yet or don’t recall, the name in the title above is a reference to the American Film Institute, who some time back (now) published a number of Top 10 lists specific to genres. Since “LAMB” is a much more clever acronym than AFI, well, you get it.)

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, we used to regularly have polls of our Top 10 Comedies or our Top 10 Action/Adventure films and on and on. We did these for some time, but after running through those genres, along with Horror, Musicals, Sports Movies, etc., etc., I felt as though we’d run out of major categories, and perhaps we (I?) had gotten sidetracked with other LAMB projects.

Well, it’s time to get back on the horse, and with the help of a number of LAMBs over at the Facebook page, I’ve been stocked up with a ton of potential categories for future Top 10s. This first one was a popular choice, so it’s the one I went with.

The results are in, and the LAMB has picked its Top 10 Foreign Films (for background on this, click here). There were a total of 44 voters, with their votes spread out amongst 253 films. What that means is that, with a smaller voting base than usual, and a wide, wide variety of films, that it was difficult for a film to stand out from the crowd, but the few that did (the top seven) were head and shoulders above the rest.

As for our next topic: it’s time to unleash the LIONs! That’s right, it’s LIONs for LAMBs 2009, in which we take a look back at the last year in film. I’m asking you for your Top 10, Bottom 5, Best Actor and Actress and more. Shouldn’t take you but a few minutes to fill out, and the Top 10 is the only required entry should you not wish to participate in the rest of it. This poll will run through February 21st, with the results to be doled out in the final days before the Academy Awards air (on March 7th).
