LAMB Leaderboard Updated for November!

For the third month in a row, Where Danger Lives sits at the top of the leaderboard. Congrats!

We had six new/returning entrants to the board and we’re down to only 10% of the board  having the generic LAMB banner! Almost there!

Speaking of LAMB Banners, five new ones added to the Gallery/random banner widget. The new ones hanging proudly are for: Via Margutta 51, Inspired Ground, My Film Habit, True Classics: The ABCs of Classic Film, and Movie Sense by FranchiseSaysSo. Note that some are currently pending LAMBs, but we still appreciate their enthusiasm.

Want yours in there? Just send it to me. More details on that here.

PLUG: Where Danger Lives

Over the next few months on the Where Danger Lives blog, I¹ll be counting
down the 100 greatest posters of film noir. The posters are being considered
on the basis of their artistic merit, concept, memorability, and so forth
‹ not on the quality of the films they represent. For example, the poster
for Double Indemnity, possibly the most iconic and well-known film noir,
didn’t make the list. Stop by the blog each week and see what did. Each
poster comes with a brief explanation about why it was included, along with
a hi-res image for download. This is a brand new feature at WDL, and
hopefully one that will be of interest to a broader audience. In the “real
world” I’m a college graphic design professor and a long-time professional
designer, so this feature gives me a chance to mix work and play in an
interesting, and hopefully fun / educational way. The countdown begins on
Black (<–Noir!) Friday, but there’s a post up now featuring ten posters
that didn’t make the list ‹ and why.

Got a Press Release, something to Plug, or a Screener available for review (or some combination of the three)? Ok, don’t get all crazy about it. Just click here and give me the details (what, when, where, and a link, for starters) - I’ll handle the rest.

LAMB Leaderboard Updated for October!

For the second month in a row, Where Danger Lives sits at the top of the leaderboard. Congrats!

We had six new/returning entrants to the board and we’re down to only 20% of the board  having the generic LAMB banner!

Speaking of LAMB Banners, seven new ones added to the Gallery/random banner widget. I think that may be a record. The new ones hanging proudly are for: Pick’n'Mix Flix, Cin-Eater, Clash of the Queues, Disaster Movie World, Flix Chatter, French Toast Sunday, The Intermittent Sprocket.

Want yours in there? Just send it to me. More details on that here.

LAMB Leaderboard updated for September!

Longtime contender to the top of the leaderboard, Where Danger Lives finally take the top spot! Congrats! Any excuse to show off this snazzy banner is a-ok by me.

Just four new/returning entrants to board, so there’s not a lot of activity on that front - last month’s top five now occupy 5 of the top 6! Leading the way for the noobs is Pick ‘n’ Mix Flick, charting at #7. The same bad news as last month, though, as 30% of the board is inhabited by generic LAMB banners. The goal is a generic banner-free board. One day…

Speaking of LAMB Banners, four new ones added to the Gallery/random banner widget - awesome! The new ones hanging proudly are for: Does Writing Excuse Watching?, Suspend Your Disbelief, Behind the Couch, and The Most Beautiful Fraud in the World.

Want yours in there? Just send it to me. More details on that here.

LAMB #299 - Where Danger Lives

URL: http://wheredangerlives.blogspot.com/
Site Name: Where Danger Lives
Categories: Reviews, Classic Film
Rating: PG

What is the main focus of your site?
At this moment, I’m primarily interested in reviewing classic film noir, preferably on the rare and hard-to-find side of that dark street.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
My blog is just a personal outlet for the swirl of thoughts I have as I tackle these films. I’m trying to review movies that don’t have a wealth of critical information already floating around out there in print or cyberspace. I’m finding that I really enjoy the process — and I’m learning a great deal about myself and the way I think about films through the writing process.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
I’m a college professor by trade, so I get my fill of being the teacher that way. I hope that if anyone out there actually reads my posts, they come back at me with their own thoughts. It can be difficult to find people who are interested in the same sorts of obscure films as myself, so I hope the blog can be a way to connect with those folks — it seems to be working.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Not long, maybe six months. I post updates as often as I can, school being out of session helps! I’m shooting for one long review each week.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The Best Years of Our Lives, The Narrow Margin, I am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Seeing the badge on so many great blogs.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
I’m really interested in the Academy Awards, and am close to completing a gigantic accomplishment related to the awards that ’ve been working on for more than twenty years. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ll keep it a secret for now. I’m also a big fan of Netflix, which for a decade now has made movies profoundly more accessible.
